The layout of Golf Solitaire comprises 7 columns with 5 cards each, forming the tableau. The remaining 17 cards are placed face down to create the stock pile. Cards from the stock pile can be turned over one by one and added to the home stack. The game commences with the flipping of the first card from the stock pile. Cards from the tableau can only be moved to the home stack in ascending or descending order. Certain variations of the game permit placing an Ace on top of a King and vice versa. The game concludes when the stock pile is empty with no further moves possible.
